How It Works
Submit your information in the form above or call an agent at 773-849-9478 to get a customized car-hauling solution. An agent will be able to walk you through different options that fits your budget and timeframe.
The car will be picked-up, fully insured bumper-to-bumper, as it ships with a top rated driver. We only use experienced drivers with a 100% rating on Central Dispatch to assure that your car is safe and sound. A 22 point inspection of the vehicle condition will be done at pickup.
The same driver at pickup will deliver your vehicle door-to-door. And once again, a 22 point inspection of the vehicle condition will be done at delivery to assure that your vehicle is in the same condition.
Best in class Services
Open Car Shipping:
This is the most common form of car shipping as over 90% of vehicles use this method. Vehicles are placed on an open-air trailer. Typically, a trailer of this sort will have 6 to 8 cars loaded on it. Once a car is loaded, it is not taken off until delivery.
Covered Vehicle Transport:
This is the next “level” in the car shipping services department. Your vehicle is loaded on a car hauler that is covered in a canvas material to keep the elements of the road away from your vehicle. This type of hauler cannot hold as many vehicles as an open car hauler can which means the price point is slightly higher for the quicker transportation and added protection.
Enclosed Auto Transportation:
This is the ultimate in car shipping services. Your vehicle is placed in a car hauler that is hard-body enclosed and 100% secure. The vehicle is completely hidden from Mother Nature during its time being transported. No dust, debris, rain, or snow will be exposed to the vehicle. This type of hauler usually holds less vehicles so it costs more fuel to travel the same distance. Because of this, the price is higher for this type of transportation.
Door To Door Transport:
This delivery option is the most common way to pick up and deliver a vehicle. The trucking company will meet you directly at your doorstep to pick up the vehicle and the same happens upon delivery. The customer is given notice atleast 24 hours prior to pick up and delivery and then another notice 1-2 hours prior to pick up and delivery. Customers will know exactly when a hauler will be arriving.
Terminal To Terminal Delivery:
This service is perfect for people who will not be at their home during the time of pickup or delivery. The customer would take their vehicle to a local terminal or parking lot and the hauler comes and picks up the vehicle when it is ready. The car hauling company delivers the vehicle to a terminal nearby your destination and the customer can pick up their vehicle at their convenience.

"...Pricing was very competitive and they found a driver that was equally fantastic. Shipped 3 cars all at once that were special to me including a corvette. Highly recommend Joe without reservation! Thank you you were a God send!"

"I’ve never shipped a car halfway across the US. I volunteer in a ministry with international students at a local campus. Shipping cars is not normally on my radar. Joe took the time to explain the entire process, the pitfalls, and the alternatives.... He drew me in.... I was there when the driver came to her campus housing to pick up her car. He was on time. He knew what he was doing, and he did it quickly and efficiently. Two days later she was at her new apartment on the East Coast. She was called and told her car would be there before 5 p.m. It was there before five, as promised. Not a new scratch anywhere on it. Yeah, I’d try Joe again, and would recommend him to a best friend."

"Very upfront and honest during the entire process. As a soldier I had to pcs a lot and I could always rely on Joe to get my cars to my next duty assignment. .... highly dependable and professional. Thanks for everything!"

Best Car Shipping Formula...
"After graduating from Ohio State University and working at a Fortune 500 company in the Chemistry Industry, I did a lot of soul-searching and decided to take an opportunity working at a large logistics company and that's when I got my start in the vehicle transport business.
We started Road Commander Auto with the idea that we could implement a rigorous proprietary tracking system to move cars at a lower price with better quality drivers.
What I found was that many companies, especially larger ones had an inefficient process, that led to delays, high prices, and a low customer experience. I still talk to most of our customers at Road Commander, and try to be as thorough as possible, answering questions and addressing concerns that people might have. We try to bring a simple approach listening to customer needs and tailoring a situation that works for everyone.
At Road Commander Auto, we are committed to having the highest level of customer satisfaction, by being precise, accurate and knowledgeable about the entire car shipping process and communicating it in an easy way for our customers. Our agents are committed to understanding each customer's situation and providing the best possible service."
Multiple factors influence the cost of your shipment:
Size and weight of a vehicle
Vehicle Condition: operable or inoperable. Inoperable means the car does not start.
Type of trailer: open or enclosed
Distance/Mileage and route
Seasonal fluctuations/weather and number of trucks operating
You are permitted to have up to 100lbs of additional cargo in the vehicle. But all cargo must be secured, below the window level, and in the rear or trunk of the car.
Not necessarily, but there must be an assigned contact at both pickup and delivery who is atleast 18 years of age.
Yes, your car is fully insured bumper to bumper. However, items inside your vehicle are not insured during transport.
A car hauler travels approximately 400 miles a day. For a cross country shipment it will usually take 5-7 days from pickup to delivery.
With open transport, your vehicle is transported on an open-air trailer. Most customers and dealerships choose this option. With an enclosed transport, your vehicle is transported inside of a hard-side enclosed trailer. The vehicle is protected from any outside elements, including dust, weather, and sun exposure. 1 out of 40 carriers in the auto transport industry have enclosed trailers, making it a much more expensive option.
